The historic Claremont Hotel in Southwest Harbor, Maine, has provided classic refuge for visitors to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, and Mount Desert Island (MDI) each summer since 1884.

Situated at the mouth of Somes Sound, the east coast's only fjord, our six-acre shorefront resort includes the historic hotel with 24 guest rooms, the Phillips House with 6 private inn-style rooms, and 14 housekeeping cottages. On-site facilities include Xanthus restaurant and bar, dock, moorings, boat house restaurant, rowboats, bicycles, clay tennis court and two tournament-class croquet courts. Our housekeeping cottages, some with ocean views, all with fireplaces, decks and kitchenettes, are ideal for family vacations, or romantic weekend getaways. Xanthus, our acclaimed dining room, offers gourmet cuisine to hotel and outside guests, and water views from every table.
