Overview

Tucked away in elegant Southwest Harbor, The Claremont Hotel is close to all of Acadia’s best attractions. Of course, with so many on-site amenities, services and dining options, it’s entirely possible to enjoy a perfect vacation without ever leaving our waterfront property. We’ve carefully designed every common area in our Main Hotel and every outdoor seating area, including our numerous decks and porches, to take advantage of our spectacular view of Somes Sound and Acadia National Park.

Activities and amenities at The Claremont are designed for the exclusive use of our guests unless otherwise noted. All outdoor activities are weather and schedule dependent.

Heated Swimming Pool

What better way to spend a summer day than lounging by our heated pool overlooking Somes Sound? The social and visual hub of our majestic back lawn, this impeccably manicured area is as pleasing to the eye as it is to the body, mind, and soul. Whether for a swim or to simply admire the panoramic view of Acadia National Park’s stunning mountains, next-level relaxation awaits day or night.

Cabanas

Guests of The Claremont are invited to take a break from the sun without returning to your room in one of our luxurious cabanas. Featuring a day bed, two chaise lounges, and two beach chairs, you will enjoy a more private experience while taking in the spectacular view of Somes Sound.

DAILY RENTAL: $200 includes towels, water, 2 Claremont tumblers, and special cabana menu.

Don’t miss out on live performances at The Claremont Croquet Club. Imagine a powerhouse personality with an extensive song catalog, and you get a rough idea of the energy and fun our musicians bring to a room. “You name it; they can play it!”

Guests of The Claremont are invited to start their day with focus, energy, and gratitude as the sun advances over our lawn and Somes Sound sparkles in the morning light. Weather permitting, these 60-minute course are enjoyable for practitioners of all experience levels.

Croquet Court

For 43 years, The Claremont Hotel was home to The Claremont Classic, a spirited croquet tournament where players from all over the country squared off on our three on-site courts. This tradition lives on with a single court where the stakes aren’t nearly as high and the competition is decidedly less intense.
Don Whalen joins us twice each week to offer lessons on the green.

Boat Charters

Booking a private boat charter with up to six people is a great way to explore our majestic surroundings. Let our friends at Get Out Sailing be your guide as they pilot you over the waters of Somes Sound.

  • Full day charter = $1,200 (Not recommended for first time sailors)

Boat Moorings

With thirty feet of depth at the mouth of Somes Sound and wide-open spaces throughout its five-mile length, the waters beyond our private dock are ideal for vessels of all sizes. Registered guests arriving by boat will have access to boat moorings for $45/night.

Croquet Club

At the end of a busy day or when the weather isn’t cooperating, our expansive game room is a wonderful place to unwind and match wits. From Table Shuffleboard to Giant Scrabble, we have dozens of card, dice, and classic board games to choose from in a comfortable yet elegant space.

From logo apparel and our signature soaps to our carefully selected assortment of amenities from local artisans, our on-site gift shop is the place to get a head start on holiday shopping or find the perfect thank-you gift for your dog sitter.
